【Funatama Shrine and Shibayama】
Located in a quite remote place, and it’s probably a shrine and area most people won’t visit, as it’s not very known
The Funatama shrine itself is not that impressive, but there is a little beach right beside it, which was the first beach I have been able to find here in Takamatsu, so I was thrilled with my newfound disovery.
Here you can see the shrine. I think because of corona it was closed.
Here is the little beach beside the shrine. Even though it was cloudy, the weather was so hot, which made the water a really nice temperature (I only went in with my feet).
On the way to this shrine, you’ll be able to find Shinayama, which is located on a small hill.
After you have climbed the many stairs, you’ll reach the small shrine, and a beautiful view over Takamatsu.
Sadly the shrine’s doors was closed due to corona, but nonetheless, it was a nice experience.
Here the small humble shrine can be seen.
If you walk behind the temple you’ll find another little shrine as well as a little bench you can sit on and relax and enjoy the view of Megijima Island that can be seen in the distance.
Shibayama used to be a small island with a strategic view over the Inland Sea doing the Tensho Era. It was meant to strengthen their coastal defence and is today a popular tourist spot.
