Tamamo Park
Close to the Sunport the Tamamo park is located. This is another place I can highly recommend. It’s the home to the ruins of Takamatsu Castle.
The Takamatsu Castle was sadly torn down doing the Meiji Restoration, but the foundation can still be seen, as it was rebuild a few years ago. There plans rumored to have the whole castle rebuild, but as of right now(July 2020) there are no official statement of if and when.
The park as a a beautiful Japanese styled garden, you can take a stroll in and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. There is also the Hiunkaku house, which was built approximately 100 years ago, by a Takamatsu feudal lord. This house is accessible to the public.
The surviving Mizutegomon Gate dates back several hundred years, and is known for being one of Japans 3 castles, which is directly connected to the sea. The turret, which is a part of the Mizutegomon gate, can be accessed and you can go all the way to the top of the turret. Be careful though! The steps are very far apart and very steep. There are several old pieces of the original castle inside the turret, which are really interesting to see, and it really gives you a feeling for how it was back then.
