Shikoku mura Village and Mt. Yashima.

Shikoku mura village is located in Yashima, and it an outdoor museum. There is so many things to see in Yashima though, apart from the Shikoku Mura village.
When you arrive at the station, if you choose to walk to the Village, which takes about 10 min on foot, you pass a long step of stairs. On top of these stairs you can get an excellent view of the city along while visiting a beautiful shrine.

When you reach the top of the shrine, you are meet with this view. The day I went it was a bit rainy and cloudy, but on a clear day, I’m sure it would be absolutely stunning.
Shikoku Mura village cost ¥1000yen to enter, which in my opinion, is a tad expensive. The village is quite big and you also get access to the museum, but the museum can be done in 15 minutes, if you really take your time. If you are not on a very tight budget, and are interested in old Japanese villages and history, I would recommend it.

There is a small vine bride, which is a replica of the famous Vine bridge in Iya Valley in Tokushima prefecture.

This is an old kabuki theater, and is today used to display all the different dolls used in the plays. Occasionally Kabuki performances are being held here.

To reach the top of the Mt. Yashima , you can either walk, which will take about 1-1,5 hours, or you can take a shuttle bus from either the Kotoden-Yashima station or from the Shikoku village. The shuttle bus costs ¥100yen, regardless of when you get on. The shuttle bus takes about 10min to reach the top.

At the top you can visit shrine nr. 84 on the 88-shrine pilgrimage.
It is also possible to walk around the top on small routes. There are quite many abandoned buildings, which gives you an insight into when the place was bustling with tourists. It’s quite interesting to see the nature taking over many of these buildings.
