Ritsurin Garden

Hello!
My name is Katrine, and I’m currently working at Takamatsu Guesthouse Traditional Apartment.
Last week I finally decided to visit Ritsurin Garden, and it was so beautiful!
Ritsurin Garden is a wonderful garden that takes you back to the old Japan. The garden has been created over several hundred years and was finished in 1745. You can enjoy the beautiful views and the changing landscape, while strolling around.
I spent an hour walking the recommended route, which is shown on a small folder you receive along with signs throughout the park. This folder is both in Japanese and in English. Walking around the entire park will probably take 1,5-2 hours, but with the landscapes I would say that it’s very much worth it! There are also little shops, where you can buy ice cream, udon, soba, hot drinks, and more, so no need to worry about getting hungry.
The day that I went it ended up raining, but with the cover of the trees and small houses, it didn’t really bother me sitting there for half an hour and just taking all the scenery in.

It has also been given a 3-star status bu the “Michelin Green Guide Japan”.
This is the famous spot, which is often seen in pictures of the garden. This spot is called the most beautiful view of the garden.

You can buy fish food and feed the many koi fish and turtles, who lives in the lakes.

This is the oldest pine tree in all of Japan. It really gives you some food for thought, thinking about how many time periods this tree has been through.
