Shopping street

In Takamatsu you’ll find the longest shopping arcade in the whole of Japan. It runs all the way from Ritsurin Garden to Takamatsu Castle, and is 2,7 km in combined length.
On this street you can find anything that your heart desires; udon, gaming arcades, clothes stores, bakeries, tea shops, etc.
Near the Takamatsu castle, there is a little plaza, with more luxurious stores like Coach and Louis Vuitton.

If you are looking more for food places, or some of the night life, there is a street running sideways with the shopping street, where there is mainly Japanese Izakayas, and other food places located.
The whole street is also covered, so even if it rains or you want to get out of the sun, you’ll be safe.

Near the shopping street you’ll also be able to see this interesting figure

Places to eat:
● If you are looking for a bakery, I can recommend Retro Bakery. It opens at 10am, and have reasonable prices. If you come in between 10-11am the whole shop will smell of freshly baked bread and still be warm. They even have a cafe on the second floor, where you can enjoy your meal.
● Another place where I like go to eat is toi toi toi, which is a ice cream shop. Here you can get 3 flavors for the price of 320 yen, and if you are looking for a more substantial meal, you can go to the other side of the street and find san biki no ko buta(三びきの子ぶた). Here you’ll find some really good filling sandwiches for 400-550yen.
There is a menu at the counter, when you order, so even if you don’t speak Japanese, you can also just point at what you want and they’ll understand. The staff is really nice there, and willing to help or recommend you something if you want.

I have also writing more about these in the blog about cozy cafes.
